Azur is an experimental artistic platform founded in 2021 by Ezra Babski and Abel Ghekiere. The project began as an initiative to support and publish close friends of the founders, with an emphasis on digital representation; it has since evolved into a interdisciplinary platform that serves to bring artists working in disparate fields, of all ages and with all kinds of mediums, together. Both individual releases as well as collaborations remain the provisional staple of the project, with an emphasis on digital-to-analogue translations, music, and text.
The philosophical core of the project is the idea that highbrow and lowbrow, technologically ‘sophisticated’ and basic/analogue art, when placed together in unlikely formations (and without getting rid of the distinction altogether), lead to productive encounters that bridge the gap between isolated social and artistic milieus, as well as produce exciting, boundary-pushing artwork.
This site will serve as the primary digital address of the AZUR label (WIP).
